List of Nominated Volunteers for 2010 Ontario Awards

Sarah Siddiqi
Sara Siddiqi has dedicated her time and efforts to volunteer with the Afghan Women’s Organization for five years. Sarah specifically works in the Youth Advisory Division, where she coordinates different strategies to help youth cope with every day challenges. Furthermore, Sara has extended her help to various projects such as workshops, fundraisers, cultural fashion shows and Mother’s day. Sara is an exceptional volunteer who has the ability to work with a variety of ages and personalities.

Irfan Tahiri
Irfan Tahiri has been volunteering with the Afghan Women’s Organization for over 5 years. Irfan primarily conducts outreach and raises funds for major events. He has helped organize and coordinate events such as New Years and Mother’s day; which are usually attended by more that three thousand people every year. Ifran is a hard worker who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Shariffa Said
Sahriffa Said has been volunteering with the Senior’s Program for an extensive period of time. Shariffa organizes workshops and activities such as support group meetings for isolated seniors.  Furthermore, she utilizes her vibrant energy to cook for community events. Shariffa is a dedicated volunteer who continues to work hard for the Afghan Women’s Organization.  

Rayahana Mohammad
Rayahana Mohammad puts most of her efforts towards the senior’s group. She assists seniors in various ways such as escorting them to appointments, providing social support and conducting outreach in the community. Rayahana is a hard worker with a lot of patience.

Fahim Sharaf
Fahim Sharaf has been volunteering with the Afghan Women’s Organization for over five years. He is involved in organizing community events and functions. He is a great team player who always carries out his duties in a professional manner.

Abdul Qahar Andisha
Abdul Qahar Andisha has been volunteering with the Afghan Women’s Organization for over 6 years. He assists newcomers integrate into Canadian society; for example, he helps with translation, accommodation, escorting and identifying resources. He continually stands to support community members with a positive and friendly attitude.

Wajma Soroor
Wajma volunteers in numerous programs like the youth division. She shares her knowledge, skills and Canadian experience with youth who are new to Canada. Wajma is a genuine and exceptional volunteer who continues to dedicate her time for those in need of assistance.
